For water lovers, the Well-being Pool features a large whirlpool, two plunge pools, the MyBeast adult playground with fitness apparatus designed by Equilibria, as well as the Gym and Tonic bar, which serves up fresh cold-pressed juices and handcrafted cocktails.
At the Redemption Spa you can revitalize in the hydrotherapy pool, mud room, salt room, cold plunge pools, quartz beds, and rejuvenate with spa treatments. By night—sailors can complete their well-being journey by attending one of the voyage’s evening spa parties where a DJ transforms the spa’s thermal suite into sensory extravaganza.
For sailors who want to look their best before or after shore leave, Stubble and Groom is an intimate, upscale barber shop where men can be pampered and well-groomed. Stubble & Groom offers a one of-a-kind experience at sea with hot-lather shaves, haircuts, beard trimmings, and the only male pedicure spa at sea with a porthole ocean view. If you are really feeling like a sailor on leave, head to Squid Ink, the first ever tattoo studio on board a cruise ship. Squid Ink offers tattooing, permanent makeup, and body piercing services. The studio has two resident tattoo artists, as well as an occasional guest artist from the World Famous Tattoo Ink Pro Team.
Sailing with Virgin Voyages made us feel good in many ways, including their commitment to sustainability. Single use plastics are not allowed on the ships, including straws, bottled water, other beverage bottles, condiment packets, shopping bags, food packaging, and take-away coffee and tea cups. Instead, the company emphasizes the use of recyclable and reusable materials across the ship. While on board, Sailors are provided with access to complimentary filtered still and sparkling water. In addition to making sure their ships have the latest energy-efficiency equipment, Virgin Voyages is committed to net zero carbon emissions by 2050. They also care about where products come from and how they impact our oceans. All of the fish and seafood in their signature restaurants and onboard eateries has been sustainably sourced, and sunscreens for sale are all reef-safe.
When it comes to the Virgin Voyages Team, we were amazed and delighted by the diversity of people who live and work on the ship. Everyone seemed to love what they were doing, and they were free to express themselves in all manner of ways, including how they dressed, wore their hair, whether they had tattoos or piercings, etc. My husband and I especially appreciated that the LGBTQ+ community is well-represent on the ship, and looked forward to seeing them everywhere we went on board the Valiant Lady.
