The Celebrity Apex is a large ship, with a length of 1004 feet and room for 2910 guests. Our onboard experience, however, was relaxed and intimate. If you book a Retreat Suite, get ready to be pampered with stunning suite accommodations from modern two-story villas with plunge pools to staterooms with infinite verandas that blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living, the private Luminae restaurant with signature dishes created by Daniel Boulud, an exclusive lounge and sundeck a dedicated team of Personal Retreat Hosts on-hand 24/7.

When we first saw The Retreat suites we were amazed at how large and luxurious they looked. These are definitely a must if you want to celebrate a special occasion with someone you love.

In addition to these incredible accommodations, the ship offers all guests a chance to enjoy 29 food and beverage experiences, including 12 bars, cafés, and lounges, and seven specialty restaurants, and four main dining venues.

We felt like kids in a candy store as we wandered the ship, stopping at the Café Al Bacio for a cappuccino and a slice of coconut cake; grabbing a drink at the pool bar and heading upstairs to the outdoor smoking area; or enjoying appetizers and the unique experience of The Magic Carpet with its stunning perch on the edge of the ship.

With so many dining options, you will be hard pressed to decide which ones to choose. Our advice, pick a longer cruise so you can try them all!

One of our favorite restaurants on the Apex is Luminae. This private venue for The Retreat guests offers a menu crafted by Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud and serves modern, eclectic cuisine that is not available anywhere else on board the ship. The atmosphere is elegant and relaxed, much like you would find in a five-star hotel. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the menu includes such tantalizing dishes as Eggs Benedict with Scottish smoked salmon, a Creamy Lobster Roll with celery, crème fraîche, and French fries, and Grilled Filet Mignon with truffle potato purée, spinach, and bordelaise sauce.

Needless to say, with so many dining options you will need to find a way to work off all those calories before you next meal. Luckily, the Apex has one of the largest, most well-equipped, and beautiful fitness enters we have ever seen. Located at the bow of the ship with 180 degrees of floor to ceiling windows, it was a pleasure working out here. Offering yoga, meditation, fitness classes, and personal trainers, you will always look and feel you best.

For people who like to pamper their bodies, The Spa is the perfect place to do just that. Reserve one of their signature treatments, such as the Aroma Spa Seaweed Massage and feel your stress and tension float away as an aromatic seaweed mask is applied to your body, combined with a scalp and foot massage; or the Thousand Flower Detox Wrap, where oemga-rich green tea oil is massaged into the skin followed by the nutritious Earth wrap.

Now that your body is in prime condition, you will be ready to enjoy all the nightlife options on board the ship. Experiential, imaginative performances take place throughout the night at The Theatre, The Club, and a variety of other venues. End your night by trying your luck at the Casino, or enjoy a nightcap at one of our favorite places for a drink, the Sunset Bar.

The Retreat Sundeck

Our bartender, who was from the Caribbean Island of Dominica, always remembered what we liked to drink, and her sense of humor made us smile.

Sitting outside as we cruised through the night, we felt totally at home on the Apex, and truly appreciated all the creativity and dedication that goes into making this a cruising experience that people from around the world will enjoy and recommend to their family and friends.
