Laos is a time warp for culture junkies, a natural hot spot for adventurists, and, ultimately, an exciting, life-changing destination that hasn’t fully surrendered to mass tourism.

Phu Si Hill is the most famous attraction in Luang Prabang with shrine atop a 330-foot-high hill.

Tat Kuang Si Rescue Center. No address, no phone, no website. Rescue center for local bears.

Tad Kuang Si Waterfalls is a natural, tiered waterfall with emerald pools, perfect for swimming.
