SUMMARY:Thessaloniki Pride 2025
DESCRIPTION:The international term ‘Pride’ denotes a series of events that may range from ordinary gatherings to parades\, floats\, and parties. Thessaloniki Pride\, for example\, is one such event that concerns the LGBTI+ (lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, intersex\, etc.) population\, who are publicly demanding the dignity that every person should feel in regard to their sexual identity\, while also openly celebrating their diversity and culture. At the same time\, these events are an expression of the demands of this social group\, with the main goal of eradicating negative stereotypes that prevail in the thoughts and actions of many people. \nHistory\n‘Pride’ began as an anniversary event\, commemorating an incident that took place in New York on June 28\, 1969. On that day\, policemen raided a gay bar named the Stonewall Inn\, on the pretext of illegal alcohol sales\, during a series of consecutive raids in similar bars in the area\, while general abuse of gay and transsexual persons was commonplace. These events are similar to Thessaloniki Pride gatherings\, where people unite to demand respect and recognition. \nThe arrests and violence that ensued enraged the people outside the bar\, who attacked the police vehicles with rocks\, bottles\, even trashcans. A large crowd then gathered to demonstrate and\, as a result\, clashes with police continued over the following days and nights. \nThe next month\, gay activists distributed flyers demanding a mass “gathering for gay liberation”. The alliance formed during this meeting adopted the name ‘Gay Liberation Front’. It aimed to stop police harassment and inspire events like Thessaloniki Pride as a movement against discrimination. \nOther protest rallies ensued and gay and lesbian rights organizations were formed throughout the United States. This was considered to be the first modern LGBTI movement\, inspiring events like Thessaloniki Pride worldwide. \nThe following year\, the ‘Stonewall march’ took place to commemorate the event\, while also being a protest against the discrimination and violence suffered by gays\, lesbians\, and transsexuals in New York City. In the strictest sense of the term\, this could be considered the first Pride event ever held\, serving as a precursor to gatherings like Thessaloniki Pride. \nIn 1999\, on the 30th anniversary of the New York events\, the Stonewall Inn was declared a National Historic Landmark\, while on the 40th anniversary\, the President of the United States\, Barack Obama\, declared June 2009 to be LGBTI Pride Month\, celebrating events such as Thessaloniki Pride.

Pride is our largest community engagement event of the year\, gathering more than 20\,000 people throughout the weekend to celebrate LGBTQ+ arts\, culture\, and activism. Net proceeds from the events support year-round services at the Sacramento LGBT Community Center\, making up approximately 2.5% of the Center’s annual budget. For more information on the impact of our work\, visit the Center’s website. \nSince 1979\, Sacramento Pride has commemorated the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion on New York’s Christopher Street\, a critical tipping point in the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. In the decades since\, Pride marches\, parades\, and festivals around the world have evolved to both commemorate the struggle of the Stonewall era and celebrate the progress we’ve made in the fight for equity and justice in the decades since. We remember the victims of the Pulse Nightclub Massacre and the murders of trans women every year. We acknowledge this land was\, and still is\, the Tribal land of the Nisenan and Plains Miwok people and that AAPI community members faced extreme discrimination and violence during the pandemic. Sacramento Pride is the region’s largest and most inclusive celebration of diversity\, advocacy\, LGBTQ+ culture\, and community building in Sacramento Region\, providing an incredible and safe opportunity for visibility and action. \nSacramento Pride 2023 will feature the Pride March Sunday\, June 9\, a two-day festival on June 8-9 on Capitol Mall\, and a multitude of community partner events throughout Pride Month.

We count kisses\, love\, we count all the “I love yous” that we feared would never be given to us. \nWe count losses \nSisters\, brothers and sisters we lost to the violence and hatred that targeted us and continues to target us in dark alleys\, on public transportation\, in bustling squares\, in our own homes. We count loved ones we lost to state indifference to the AIDS epidemic\, our own people who did not fit into the suffocating framework of patriarchy and normality. The women who were publicly denounced in 2012 as HIV-positive – an institutional decision of vilification and stigmatization – that cost human lives. Zackie\, Ana\, Diona and many more names that we may never know. \nWe count victories \nThe civil partnership agreement\, the legal recognition of gender identity\, the marriage of same-sex couples\, the protection law for intersex minors\, the increasing visibility and representation of LGBTQI+ people in institutions and in the public sphere.

DESCRIPTION:Mission Statement: Indy Pride\, Inc. exists to unite and serve its members and the LGBTQ community of Central Indiana through leadership development\, educational and support programs\, and community events that achieve inclusivity\, equality\, strong community connections\, and awareness of LGBTQ issues. \nIndy Pride\, Inc. is a wholly volunteer-managed non-partisan\, tax-exempt\, not-for-profit corporation that organizes Lesbian\, Gay\, Bisexual and Transgender Pride events in Central Indiana. Indy Pride\, Inc. welcomes the participation of all\, regardless of age\, creed\, gender\, gender identification\, HIV status\, national origin\, race\, religion\, sexual origin\, and regardless of ability. Indy Pride\, Inc. is governed by the Board of Directors elected by its membership. \nIn existence since 1995\, Indy Pride\, Inc. became the parent organization of the newly combined Pride Festival in June 2003\, and in 2009\, the Festival was re-christened Circle City IN Pride in an effort to brand the event beyond the name of the main organization. In 2018\, Circle City Indy Pride will continue with the name Indy Pride Fest. \nIndy Pride Fest is the largest fundraiser for Indy Pride\, Inc.\, who uses the funds raised to support the community\, award scholarships\, support organizations in Central Indiana. In addition to Indy Pride Fest\, Indy Pride is the parent organization of the Chris Gonzalez Library & Archives\, the Indianapolis LGBT Film Festival\, Circle City Pride Softball League\, and the Circle City Fest Volleyball Tournament.

We have no right to remain silent\, because human rights are not something that can be postponed until “after victory.” Because it is the struggle for freedom and equality that is proof of our strength\, resilience\, unity – our democratic European vector of development. \nWe see that democracy is under attack all over the world. The examples of the USA\, Hungary\, Georgia demonstrate that the attack on LGBTIQ+ rights is the first step towards a broader curtailment of the rights and freedoms of all people. Today people are discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity\, and tomorrow it could be anyone else. \n\nOnly together can we stand firm and win – on all fronts.\n\n\n\n\n\nOn June 7\, the KyivPride Charity Festival will take place\, during which we will hold a collection for the needs of our defenders.\n\n\n\n\nOn June 14\, we will hold the KyivPride 2025 March.

As the Pride Center of Maryland evolved through the years\, so did its annual Pride Celebration. DESCRIPTION:Our History\n\n\n\nChristopher Street West (CSW)\, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that organized the world’s first permitted gay parade on June 28\, 1970 to commemorate the Stonewall Rebellion on Christopher Street in New York City the year prior. Over 50 years later\, we have built a rich history as an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community across Greater Los Angeles\, and beyond. \n\n\n\nOur Mission\n\n\n\nWhile we’re best known for producing the LA Pride Parade & Festival – the oldest Pride celebration in Southern California – we also produce free community programs such as donation and volunteerism events called\, “Pride Makes a Difference\,” and our “Salon Series” of year-round panel discussions and conversations covering issues that impact or interest the LGBTQ+ community. \nCSW also organizes\, sponsors or supports our community partners’ events in and around Los Angeles\, including The Getty Center\, The Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law\, and other venerable LA organizations. DESCRIPTION:About Tokyo Pride\n\nWith an intersectional perspective\nTokyo Pride (formerly Tokyo Rainbow Pride) is one of the largest LGBTQ+ events in Asia\, now in its 14th year. Since its first event in 2012\, the Pride Parade and Pride Festival have promoted the visibility of those involved\, steadily spreading understanding and recognition of the LGBTQ+ community throughout society. The term “LGBTQ+” itself has now become widely accepted. \nIn recent years\, it has grown into a place that is needed by all people with diverse identities\, including LGBTQ+ people. Behind this change is the reality that many people in the LGBTQ+ community have multiple minority identities. Therefore\, we are facing an important question: even if the human rights issues facing LGBTQ+ are resolved\, will we be able to realize a society in which everyone can live “true to themselves\, happily\, and proudly”? \nAgainst this background\, we believe it is necessary to address not only the human rights issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community\, such as marriage equality (same-sex marriage) and discrimination\, but also the various overlapping human rights issues facing women\, disabilities\, race\, and employment opportunities. We have therefore changed the name to “Tokyo Pride” and will evolve into an event that aims to resolve a variety of human rights issues over the course of the month of Pride Month. tokyorainbowpride.com/english/
